A couple weeks ago, we stopped and visited Thomas at Turntable Records on South First, and picked up a bunch of hot new Conjunto that you’re sure to love. We went in just looking for Ricky Naranjo’s newest release, Gambler Style (which we also reviewed), and we left with some great new sounds from Conjunto Los Guyz, Conjunto Prestigio and Los Enmascarados as well.
Since then, Los Texas Wranglers were honored by the Austin Music Awards, and Los Banger Broz released the single from their forthcoming album. And we were also perusing our Ruben Vela collection and found a popurri that struck our fancy.

We also revisited some live recordings we have from Los Dos Gilbertos, David Lee Garza y Los Musicales with Mark Ledesma and a special live popurri of Tu Boca Roja and De Corazon A Corazon from Rancho Alegre favorite Marcos Orozco.
Rancho Alegre Radio is one of the only places where you will hear live recordings such as these, and rare cuts from The Hometown Boys Live and Doug Sahm performing Ya No Llores. We’re not sure why. If the sound is good, why not? We’re fans, first and foremost, which helps us decide what to play and what not to play, and we love to hear live recordings. We’ll never understand standard programming decisions, though…
