Join Rancho Alegre Radio and AustinVida for another fantastic Tejano-Conjunto Tardeada at One-2-One Bar. This week, we're having the one and only Chencho Flores y Su Conjunto!
Chencho is a bona fide Austin music legend. A few years shy of 90 years old, Chencho first started playing his accordion on old 6th street in the late 1940s when it was called "Cantina Row." Throughout the years, he and his brother Frank played all over the east side; a history that has given rise to a nickname, “original kings of 6th street.”
Chencho went on to spend a number of years with Bradley Jaye Williams and Isidro Samilpa and others in Conjunto Los Pinkys, recording several albums and maintaining a near-legendary residency at the White Horse on Sunday afternoons. In 2015, Conjunto Los Pinkys were inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame.
In late 2016, Chencho branched out with his own conjunto and has been staying busy playing at various spots around town as well as our Rancho Alegre Conjunto Festival at Stubb's on Cinco de Mayo.
It's our honor and privilege to welcome Chencho and the guys to the stage at One-2-One Bar - see you there!
