Upcoming shows weekend of 1/14 – Texas Tornados, Ram Herrera, Conjunto Romo

Happy New Year everyone from Rancho Alegre! We’ve kind of been on hiatus lately, but there are some great shows in Austin this weekend (Texas Tornados at Antone’s, Ram at Tejano Ranch, Conjunto Romo at Moose Lodge), so…

Friday Night – Antone’s – Texas Tornados
With last year’s release, Esta Bueno!, the Texas Tornados have carried on the sound the group made famous in the 90′s, before the deaths of Doug Sahm and Freddy Fender. A sound we’ve described before as a great representation and illustration of how true Texas music is as diverse as Texans themselves. They’ll be playing some old favorites, I’m sure, as well as some tracks from the new album.

Friday Night – Tejano Ranch – Ram Herrera

The “Most Wanted Man in Texas” takes over Tejano Ranch tonight. The former lead singer for David Lee Garza y Los Musicales still has that big smooth voice, and continues to show it off on his latest release, El Cantante.

Saturday Night – Moose Lodge #1735 – Conjunto Romo

Conjunto Saturday Night! Los Little Rascals de Conjunto are back in town at the Moose Lodge in East Austin. We’ve written about these kids before, but their talent and bright future deserves a rerun…Signed to Joey Records, the group includes youngsters Cedrick on lead vocals and main accordion, Noe on Bajo Sexto, and JJ on drums. Navor Romo Jr plays bass and is the second voice. They count Jimmy Garcia and Los Enmascarados as influences.

Have a fun, safe weekend, everyone! Keep warm and continue supporting Conjunto and Tejano in Austin!

And…have you listened to Rancho Alegre Radio yet?
