Rancho Alegre makes it to Public Radio!

Earlier this year, we were approached by Delaney Hall of KUT Radio here in Austin. She was beginning work on a new collaborative project with Texas Music Matters called the Austin Music Map with the goal of documenting some interesting, though lesser-known, music venues in Austin. An interactive website, complete with extended interviews, video, and more photos, is scheduled to be launched very soon.

We're back!

Greetings everyone!

We’re back and have restored our website, as you can tell. We’ve been thinking about the direction of Rancho Alegre over the past week and have reevaluated our strategy. Until Frank gets healthy, we won’t be promoting our own shows.

Instead, we will be concentrating on producing all of the interviews that we have conducted and currently have “in the can,” as well as upgrading our website and playlist.

Our phenomenal interview with Mingo Saldivar should be released soon. We want to make sure we get it just right.

Saving Tejano and Conjunto with Social Media and the Internet

Nowadays, almost everyone has a Facebook account. It used to be Myspace a few years ago, but now it’s Facebook, and then after that, it will be the next big thing. People use it for various purposes. Me, for example…since I live away from most of my family and friends, I use it to keep in touch with them and share things I find amusing or interesting.

But I also use it to connect with other Tejano and Conjunto fans, bands, record labels and radio stations. And I’m not alone.

Rancho Alegre Reviews – Tejano Dawgs – Traffic Jam Mix Show – 4/6/11

Wednesday night, Rancho Alegre piled in the cruiser and headed down south to Applebees on William Cannon and I-35 for our first Traffic Jam Mix Show. We enjoyed a lovely sunset, a cool breeze, food and drink, and spent some quality time with the crew from Para La Gente 1560 AM and, most importantly, got to check out the Tejano Dawgs.

Since it was a school  night for us, we didn’t stay long enough to check out a special appearance by Ruben Ramos, but we’re sure it was fantastic. Gato always puts on a great show.

New Additions to Rancho Alegre Radio! Live tracks from Los Dos Gilbertos and Marcos Orozco, and a BUNCH of New Conjunto!

Come spend your Saturday with Rancho Alegre tonight! We’ve added nearly 50 great new tracks to Rancho Alegre Radio that are sure to be music to your ears and, along with the other 1000+ tracks, they will continue to keep you company long after the beer is gone…
